UPS (United Parcel Service) is a package delivery and supply-chain service that traces its origin to a Seattle messenger company founded by James E. Casey in 1907, growing over the 20th century into a national and then global ground- and air-parcel carrier recognizable by its brown delivery trucks. One of the world's largest package delivery companies by volume, it competes chiefly with FedEx and national postal services and, alongside them, forms the backbone of modern parcel logistics for both businesses and online consumer shopping.
