Kindle is Amazon's line of e-book readers and related reading app, first released in November 2007 using electronic-paper display technology to mimic the readability of printed paper with very long battery life. Paired with the Kindle Store, it helped popularize e-books as a mainstream consumer format alongside physical books, and the line has expanded through successive generations to include backlit, waterproof and larger-screen models.
