Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink invented by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton in Atlanta, Georgia, and first sold in 1886, later marketed nationally and internationally by The Coca-Cola Company under the guidance of Asa Griggs Candler. It became the best-selling and most recognized soft drink brand in the world, with the contour shape of its glass bottle and its red-and-white logo among the most widely recognized commercial symbols globally, and the closely guarded secrecy of its flavoring formula is itself a well-known piece of corporate lore.
