In December 2023 a jury found that Google had violated antitrust law through the practices of its Google Play app store, in a case brought by the game developer Epic Games over app store fees and restrictions on alternative app distribution. The verdict followed a similar case Epic had brought against Apple over its App Store, and it raised questions about the future of Google's control over app distribution on Android devices.
