In May 2007, DaimlerChrysler agreed to sell an 80.1 percent stake in its Chrysler unit to the private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management for $6 billion, completing the sale on August 3, 2007 and ending the nine-year transatlantic merger; the remaining company was renamed Daimler AG.
