Sony is a Japanese multinational conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, encompassing electronics, imaging and sensors, film and television, music and video game businesses. Founded in 1946 as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita, it adopted the Sony name in 1958 and became known worldwide for products including the Trinitron television, the Walkman portable audio player and the PlayStation game console.
