The Xerox 914 was the first successful plain-paper office photocopier, introduced by the Haloid Xerox company (later Xerox Corporation) in 1959. Using the xerography process, it could produce copies on ordinary paper far more cheaply and reliably than earlier photostat or thermal-copy machines, and its runaway commercial success is widely credited with launching the modern office photocopier industry and turning Xerox into a household name.
