Xbox is Microsoft's line of video game consoles and the associated online service, launched in North America in November 2001 as Microsoft's entry into the home console market. Xbox Live, launched with the original console's successor, helped pioneer console-based online multiplayer gaming and paid subscription services, and the line has continued through the Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, positioning Microsoft as one of the two dominant home console makers alongside Sony's PlayStation.
