Wheaties

Wheaties is a breakfast cereal of wheat and bran flakes made by General Mills, introduced in November 1924 under the working name Washburn's Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flakes before an employee contest gave it its current name. The cereal is known for featuring prominent athletes on its packaging, a practice that began with baseball player Lou Gehrig in 1934, and has carried the tagline The Breakfast of Champions since 1927; basketball player Michael Jordan holds the record with eighteen box appearances. Wheaties aired the first prerecorded singing radio commercial jingle in 1926, but its sales fell sharply in later years, declining 78 percent in the United States between 2005 and 2014.
