Pinterest is an image- and idea-sharing service launched in 2010 by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp, organized around user-curated boards of "pins" for topics such as home decor, fashion, recipes and event planning. It became a widely used visual-discovery and online-shopping-inspiration platform, went public in 2019, and occupies a distinct niche among major social platforms as a tool for planning and inspiration rather than real-time status updates.
