Pepsi is a carbonated soft drink created by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina, in the 1890s and originally marketed as "Brad's Drink" before being renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898. It became the principal rival to Coca-Cola in the global soft drink market, their long-running competition, sometimes called the "cola wars," a widely studied case in marketing and brand strategy, and Pepsi remains the flagship beverage brand of PepsiCo, one of the largest food and beverage companies in the world.
