Kit Kat is a chocolate bar made of wafer fingers covered in chocolate, sold in two or four finger bars, launched in September 1935 in the United Kingdom by Rowntree's of York as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp at a price of two pence and renamed Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp in 1937. Nestle acquired the brand through its 1988 purchase of Rowntree's and now manufactures it worldwide, while the Hershey Company has produced it in the United States under a licensing agreement dating to 1970. The bar carries the slogan Have a break, have a Kit Kat, introduced in 1957, and is sold in more than 100 countries in milk, dark, white chocolate, and numerous region-specific flavors.
