Microsoft Office is a suite of productivity software first released by Microsoft in 1990, bundling applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint that individually predate the suite itself. It became the dominant office-productivity software worldwide for decades, effectively setting the standard document, spreadsheet and presentation file formats much of the business world used, and it now continues chiefly as the subscription-based Microsoft 365 alongside traditional perpetual-license versions.
