Marcus by Goldman Sachs is a direct banking brand launched in October 2016 and operated by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, a subsidiary of The Goldman Sachs Group. It initially offered no-fee unsecured personal loans, marking Goldman Sachs's entry into consumer banking after a history focused on institutional and wealthy clients, and it followed the April 2016 establishment of Goldman Sachs's direct bank platform, GS Bank. The brand later extended into partnerships such as the Apple Card, launched in 2019, though Goldman Sachs announced in January 2026 that it would transition the Apple Card program to JPMorgan Chase by 2028.
