Maggi is a Nestle-owned brand of seasonings, instant soups and noodles that originated in Switzerland in the late nineteenth century. Julius Maggi took over his father's mill business in Kemptthal, Switzerland, in 1869 and developed an acid-hydrolyzed vegetable protein seasoning product that was first produced industrially in 1886, establishing the brand's signature offering. Nestle acquired the Maggi brand in 1947, and it has since grown into one of Nestle's major global food brands, sold under many regional variants around the world.
