Intel Core is a line of multi-core central processing units made by Intel Corporation for markets ranging from entry-level and midrange computers to workstations, servers, and gaming systems, with some models also manufactured by TSMC. The brand launched in January 2006 as mobile-only single and dual-core chips, followed in July 2006 by the desktop-capable Core 2 series with up to four cores and 64-bit support, and it displaced Intel's mid- to high-end Pentium processors. Across its history the line has used multiple microarchitectures from the original Core and Nehalem designs onward, with clock speeds spanning 400 megahertz to 6.2 gigahertz and core counts from 1 to 24, and in 2023 Intel restructured its naming, dropping the i prefix for Core 3, 5, and 7 and Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9 branding.
