The Ford Model T was an automobile produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1908 to 1927, whose manufacture on a moving assembly line dramatically cut production costs and, with them, the retail price of a car. Widely credited with making automobile ownership affordable to the American middle class for the first time, it sold roughly 15 million units over its production run and is commonly regarded as one of the most historically and economically significant products of the industrial era, transforming both manufacturing practice and everyday transportation.
