Doritos is an American brand of flavored tortilla chips made by Frito-Lay, a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo, that originated at a restaurant Frito-Lay managed at Disneyland in the early 1960s. It was introduced nationally in 1966 as the first tortilla chip sold nationwide in the United States, in a toasted corn flavor, followed by taco in 1967 and nacho cheese in 1972. Doritos has become a major snack brand known for Super Bowl advertising and for partnerships such as Taco Bell's Doritos Locos Tacos, and in 1993 the brand accounted for 1.2 billion dollars in retail sales, about a third of Frito-Lay's sales that year.
