Zapier is an American software company specializing in business process automation and application integration, founded in 2011 as a side project in Columbia, Missouri by Wade Foster, Bryan Helmig and Mike Knoop, all University of Missouri alumni, and officially launched in 2012 through the startup accelerator Y Combinator. Zapier is headquartered in San Francisco, California, though the company operates fully remotely with no physical offices. Its low-code, no-code platform lets people with little technical expertise move data between web-based applications, automate tasks and incorporate artificial intelligence into workflows, using triggered events called zaps that prompt automated actions in connected apps. As of 2026 the platform integrates with more than 9,000 web applications and supports over 66,000 automated triggers and actions.
