Yuengling is an American brewing company founded in 1829 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania by David Gottlieb Jungling, a German immigrant brewer, making it the oldest operating brewing company in the United States. It remains privately and family owned, led since 1985 by fifth-generation president Richard L. Yuengling Jr. As of 2018 it ranked as the largest craft brewery, the sixth-largest brewery overall, and the largest wholly American-owned brewery in the country by sales volume, with its flagship Yuengling Traditional Lager, reintroduced in 1987, accounting for roughly 80 percent of production.
