Wikimedia UK is a registered charity established in November 2008 to support volunteers in the United Kingdom who contribute to Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia. It is one of the Wikimedia Foundations approved chapters, running public outreach and edit-a-thon events and partnering with museums and other cultural institutions to expand the content available on Wikipedia. The organization is registered in England and Wales as a company limited by guarantee and gained charitable status in November 2011, and it is headquartered at the British Library in London.
