Walmex is the Mexican and Central American division of the American retailer Walmart, tracing its roots to 1958 as Cifra and taking its current form in 2000, headquartered in Mexico City. Described as the largest division of Walmart outside the United States and the largest retailer in Latin America, it operated 4,124 stores as of June 2025 across Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, and has expanded into telecommunications and financial services through its mobile network operator Bait; it reported 2024 revenue of 958.5 billion Mexican pesos and employed 241,000 people, with Walmart Inc holding about 70 percent ownership.
