The Waldwirtschaft is a beer garden tavern on a bluff above the Isar River in the Grosshesselohe district of Pullach, just south of Munich. Documented history of the site reaches back to the year 776, when it served as a dairy owned by Tassilo III, Duke of Bavaria, before passing through religious and municipal ownership and becoming a public brewery tavern by the 15th century; by the 1800s it had grown into a popular recreational destination with a dance pavilion and lodges used by Munich's artist community. The current building dates to the mid-19th century and is a protected listed structure alongside the adjoining Chapel of the Holy Trinity. Since 1981 the tavern has been run by Sepp Kratz, who also managed the Hippodrome festival tent at Oktoberfest from 1995 to 2014.
