Voestalpine AG is an Austrian steel-based technology and capital goods group based in Linz, Austria, active in the steel, automotive, railway systems, profilform and tool steel industries. As of 2017 it was one of the few profitable steel companies in Europe, with 45 percent of its workforce based in Austria. Its name amalgamates its two founding components, VOEST (Vereinigte Osterreichische Eisen und Stahlwerke), established through nationalization in July 1946, and OAMG (Osterreichische-Alpine Montangesellschaft), established in 1881.
