Video Classics was one of the first major home video distributors in Australia, prominent between 1979 and 1984 and advertising what it called Australia's largest range of quality video movies. It duplicated and sold or rented tapes across the video formats of the era, with sale prices starting around 69.95 Australian dollars and rental terms as low as 9.90 dollars overnight, and it distributed titles for other labels including The Nostalgia Merchant, Sports World Cinema, VCL, Media, Electric Blue, Wizard Video, Movies at Midnight and Filmways, as well as holding a deal to distribute Vestron Video's titles in Australia before Communications and Entertainment Limited took over that role. The company floated on the stock exchange for 1.15 million dollars but collapsed in 1984, after which its founder, Walter Greene, went on to form Video Excellence.
