The Vatican Information Service is an official, free news service of the Holy See Press Office, founded in 1991 during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. It distributes papal news daily at 3 p.m. Rome time, except in August and on Vatican public holidays, in English, Spanish, French, and Italian through a free electronic mailing list, covering papal meetings, appointments, publications, audiences, and periodic announcements about the deaths and activities of Vatican prelates and departments.
