Universal Health Services, Inc. is an American hospital and health care services company headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, founded in 1978 by Alan B. Miller. The company operates acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, and ambulatory care centers across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico, and it is one of the largest hospital management companies in the country by number of facilities. Universal Health Services operates through two principal segments, acute care hospital services and behavioral health services, the latter making it one of the largest providers of behavioral and mental health inpatient care in the United States.
