United Overseas Bank Limited, known as UOB, is a Singaporean bank headquartered at Raffles Place that was established on August 6, 1935 as United Chinese Bank by entrepreneur Wee Kheng Chiang and associates during the Great Depression. Alongside DBS Bank and OCBC it is one of Singapore's three major domestic banks, and it ranks as the third largest bank in Southeast Asia by total assets, with a network of more than 500 offices across 19 countries and territories in the Asia Pacific, Western Europe and North America. It provides personal, commercial and private banking, wealth and asset management, corporate financing, venture capital and insurance, trades on the Singapore Exchange, and carries a Standard and Poor's credit rating of AA minus.
