Transportadora de Gas del Sur is Argentina's largest natural gas transporter, formed on December 28, 1992 out of the privatization of the state-owned Gas del Estado and headquartered in Buenos Aires. It operates Latin America's largest pipeline network, moving about 60 percent of the natural gas consumed in Argentina to distributors, power generators and industrial customers through roughly 7,972 kilometers of pipeline with a maximum daily capacity of 74.3 million cubic meters, and it also processes liquefied natural gas at the General Cerri Complex in Buenos Aires Province. The company is majority owned by Compania de Inversiones de Energia S.A., with D.E. Shaw and Co. also a shareholder, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as TGS and on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange as TGSU as a MERVAL component.
