The Swatch Group AG is a Swiss watchmaking and jewelry company headquartered in Biel/Bienne, formed in 1983 through the merger of the ASUAG and SSIH watch conglomerates during a crisis in the Swiss watch industry. It owns a large portfolio of watch brands spanning many price tiers, including Omega, Longines, Tissot and its own low-cost Swatch brand, the last of which is widely credited with helping revive Swiss watchmaking in the 1980s.
