The Home Depot, Inc. is an American home improvement retailer headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1978 by Bernie Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill and Pat Farrah, who opened the first two warehouse-format stores in Atlanta in 1979. It grew into the largest home improvement retailer in the United States, selling building materials, tools, appliances and home decor to both individual homeowners and professional contractors through a large network of big-box stores.
