Tenet Healthcare Corporation is an American healthcare services company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, an investor-owned operator of hospitals and outpatient care facilities. It was founded in 1967 as National Medical Enterprises, one of the earliest companies to build a for-profit hospital chain in the United States, and it adopted the Tenet Healthcare name in 1995 following a period of restructuring. Tenet operates a network of acute care hospitals across the United States, and it has increasingly emphasized outpatient care in recent years through its United Surgical Partners International and Conifer Health Solutions businesses, which run ambulatory surgery centers and provide healthcare business services respectively.
