Tata Power Company Limited is an Indian electric utility headquartered at Bombay House in Mumbai, and the largest integrated power company in India, engaged in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution as well as natural gas exploration and distribution. Its origins trace to the Tata Hydroelectric Power Supply Company, formed in 1910, which commissioned one of India's earliest hydroelectric projects at Khopoli in 1915 and amalgamated with the Andhra Valley Power Supply Company in 1916 before the modern company was established on September 18, 1919. Tata Power is part of the Tata Group, the Indian conglomerate already live in this atlas alongside Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata and former chairman Ratan Tata, and as of the end of 2023 the Tata Group held roughly 32 percent of Tata Power's shares as its controlling promoter.
