Tata Consultancy Services Limited, known as TCS, is an Indian information technology services and consulting company headquartered in Mumbai, the largest IT services company in India by revenue and market capitalization. It was founded in 1968 as a division of the Tata Group, India's largest business conglomerate, originally to provide data processing and systems consulting services, and it grew into a global technology services provider as Indian IT outsourcing expanded from the 1990s onward. TCS provides software development, IT consulting, business process services and digital transformation work to corporate clients worldwide, and it remains one of the most valuable companies on the Indian stock market as well as one of the flagship businesses of the Tata Group. The company employs several hundred thousand people across offices in dozens of countries.
