Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) is a Taiwanese semiconductor company headquartered in Hsinchu, founded in 1987 by Morris Chang with backing from the Taiwanese government. It pioneered the pure-play foundry model, manufacturing chips designed by other companies rather than selling its own branded products, and grew into the world's largest contract chipmaker, producing processors for major technology companies including Apple and Nvidia at its advanced fabrication facilities.
