The Steel Company of Wales Ltd was a Welsh steel and tinplate producer established in 1947, operating around Swansea and Llanelli, including the Abbey Steelworks at Margam, tinplate works at Trostre and Velindre, and a deep water harbour at Port Talbot. The company was nationalized in 1951 as part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain, denationalized shortly after, and renationalized in 1967 when it was absorbed into the British Steel Corporation. British Steel later merged with Hoogovens to form Corus UK Limited, which now operates as part of Tata Steel Europe.
