Sempra, known as Sempra Energy until a 2021 shortening of its name, is an American energy infrastructure holding company headquartered in San Diego, California, formed in 1998 by the merger of Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corporation, the parent companies of the utilities Southern California Gas Company and San Diego Gas & Electric. Its regulated utility subsidiaries serve millions of customers in Southern California, and the company has also expanded into liquefied natural gas export infrastructure and energy operations in Mexico.
