Savoy Pictures

Savoy Pictures was an independent motion picture production and distribution company established in 1992 by Victor A. Kaufman, the former chairman of Columbia Pictures and founder of TriStar Pictures. It financed and distributed films, initially in the 12 to 25 million dollar budget range, and expanded into broadcasting and television production through SF Broadcasting, a venture with Fox Television Stations. After financial difficulties from box office failures and weak marketing, the company was acquired by USA Networks in 1997 for 210 million dollars, and its film library was later dispersed among studios including Universal Pictures, Focus Features and Paramount Pictures when USA Networks sold its entertainment assets to Vivendi Universal in 2002.
