Prudential plc is a British multinational insurance and financial services company headquartered in London, founded in 1848 as the Prudential Mutual Assurance, Investment, and Loan Association to provide life insurance and loans to professional and working people. It has no continuing corporate connection to the separate American company Prudential Financial, and following divestments of its European and American businesses it has focused increasingly on life insurance and asset management in Asia and Africa.
