Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is an Indian state-owned electric power transmission company headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, and the operator of the large majority of India's interstate electricity transmission network. It was incorporated on October 23, 1989, and today transmits roughly half of all power generated in India across a transmission network of approximately 168,000 circuit kilometers and more than 250 substations. The company is classified as a Maharatna central public sector undertaking under India's Ministry of Power, a status granted in 2019 that recognizes it among India's largest and most financially significant state-owned enterprises.
