PlatinumGames Inc. is a Japanese video game developer based in Osaka, formed in October 2007 through the merger of Seeds Inc., founded by Capcom alumni Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya after the closure of Clover Studio, and Odd Inc., founded by Tatsuya Minami. A year after its founding, publisher Sega agreed to publish four PlatinumGames properties, including MadWorld, Bayonetta and Vanquish, and the studio built a reputation for action games designed outside conventional genre formulas. PlatinumGames later collaborated with Nintendo on titles including The Wonderful 101 and Astral Chain and took primary development duties on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Konami.
