The Piber Federal Stud is a stud farm dedicated to breeding Lipizzan horses, located in the village of Piber near the town of Koflach in western Styria, Austria. It was founded in 1798 to breed military horses and began breeding Lipizzan horses in 1920. Its principal purpose is producing stallions for Austria's Spanish Riding School, where the best animals bred at Piber are trained and perform publicly. In 2001 the stud was spun off from direct government administration to operate alongside the Spanish Riding School as a public company, though ownership remains with the federal government of Austria.
