Outokumpu Oyj is a Finnish company headquartered in Helsinki, founded in 1914, with about 10,600 employees in more than 30 countries. It is the largest producer of stainless steel in Europe and the second largest in the Americas, and also mines chromium ore at Keminmaa for use in ferrochrome production, a key stainless steel input. The Finnish government is Outokumpu largest shareholder, controlling 26.6 percent of the company through various state entities.
