Notion Labs, Inc. is a San Francisco company founded in 2013 by Ivan Zhao, Akshay Kothari, Chris Prucha, Jessica Lam, Simon Last and Toby Schachman, whose Notion software launched publicly in August 2016. Notion is a workspace application for note-taking, knowledge management, and project and task tracking, built around movable content blocks such as text, images, subpages and databases that can be displayed as tables, calendars, kanban boards, wikis and timelines. Recent additions to the product include Notion AI, launched in February 2023 for writing assistance, Notion Calendar in January 2024, and Notion Mail in April 2025. Notion operates on a freemium model and is available on web, desktop and mobile platforms.
