Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is an onsen ryokan, a traditional Japanese hot spring inn, located in Hayakawa, Yamanashi Prefecture. Founded in the year 705 by Fujiwara no Mahito, it has been recognized by Guinness World Records since 2011 as the oldest hotel in the world. The inn operated continuously under the same family for more than 1,300 years and fifty two generations before professional management took over in 2017 because no family successor was available. Following the 2006 outside acquisition of the construction company Kongo Gumi, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan is considered by some to be the oldest independent company still in operation.
