The Newspaper Enterprise Association, or NEA, is an American editorial column and comic strip newspaper syndication service established in 1902 and the oldest syndicate still in operation. It began as a secondary news service to the Scripps Howard News Service before evolving into a general syndicate best known for comic strips including Alley Oop, Our Boarding House, Freckles and His Friends, The Born Loser, Frank and Ernest and Captain Easy or Wash Tubbs, and it once selected college All America football teams and presented professional football and basketball awards; it was part of United Media alongside United Feature Syndicate from 1978 to 2011 and is now a division of Andrews McMeel Syndication.
