The New South Wales Government Railways was the agency of the Government of New South Wales that administered rail transport in the colony and then the state of New South Wales, Australia, from 1855 to 1932. It built its entire network to standard gauge and opened the state's first railway line, from Sydney to Parramatta, in 1855. The agency managed railway operations, infrastructure and services across New South Wales for 77 years before being succeeded by the Department of Railways in 1932.
