Morvi Railway

The Morvi Railway was a metre-gauge railway line built and operated by the government of the princely state of Morvi in Gujarat, India, with construction beginning in 1886 and the line opening to traffic in 1890 between Wadhwan and Wankaner as a 2 foot 6 inch narrow-gauge tramway. It was later converted to 1,000 mm metre gauge, and by 1905 its metre-gauge sections extended to 73 miles; it was classified as a Class II railway under the Indian Railway Classification System of 1926. The Morvi Railway was merged into the Saurashtra Railway in April 1948, and the line was subsequently converted to broad gauge in 2001.
