Missouri Pacific Railroad, commonly known as MoPac, was one of the first railroads built in the United States west of the Mississippi River, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. The company traced its roots to 1851 and was reorganized under the Missouri Pacific name in 1872. Union Pacific Corporation acquired the railroad in 1980, and the Missouri Pacific Railroad was formally dissolved and merged into Union Pacific Railroad on January 1, 1997.
