Marchesi Antinori is an Italian wine company based in Florence, Tuscany, whose history traces back to 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the citys Guild of Winemakers. Still led by the Antinori family, currently headed by Marchese Piero Antinori, it ranks among the largest wine companies in Italy and is counted among the ten oldest family owned companies in the world, and is a member of the Primum Familiae Vini association of historic wine families. Antinori produces wines including Tignanello, Solaia, Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino, along with olive oil and goats cheese, and operates estates across Italy, California and other regions. Its innovations blending the Sangiovese grape with Bordeaux varieties were a driving force behind the Super Tuscan wine movement of the 1970s.
